I was also at a cemetery and found this photograph upsetting. It shows how vandals and the weather through time can ruin stones. It is a shame that the cemeteries, don't replace or repair some of these stones. It is almost like losing history.

Genealogy photographer is so interesting. I have just recently returned from another trip to Green Wood where I came across such a pretty monument. It was the monument for Lois Josephine Pettee and a few others.

Wow it's April. Time sure does go fast. On another trip to Green Wood recently I came across a stone dedicated to a mother. I found the inscription so wonderful. I hope the uploaded images will allow everyone to read the lovely transcription. I have also uploaded the inscription of the daughters stone written by her brother. The mothers name was Winifred Burke and the daughters was Elizabeth Burke. I wonder if the brother was a writer of some kind. Well have a Happy couple of weeks of researching. I am sure May will be here before we know it.
Don't forget, besides cemetery and church photography. I certainly don't mind doing some obituary research. Until next time.

I have been busy with my genealogy photography. It has been alot of fun. I love helping everyone. GreenWood Cemetery in Brooklyn NY is a wonderful cemetery. It is so full of history. Green Wood is a cemetery that is somewhat like a park. An odd statement yes, but it's true. I found on a cold and partly sunny day many people just strolling about. I am attaching to this blog a photograph of the entrance way to Green Wood. If you look close to the top you can see that parrots have nested in it. I hope to post about my journey's the beginning of every month. I am hopeful to plan a trip to an old cemetery on Staten Island or in Manhatten for next month. Let's see if the weather lets me. I also want to start photographing the churchs inside and out and start posting that. Until next time....

It's been awhile since I updated my blog. So please excuse my delay in posting this, but back in November I paid a trip to a wonderful, yet small cemetery in Queens known as Linden Hill. Linden Hill is a well maintained cemetery that seems to sit high and overlooks the water. If I had to start rating cemeteries this one would get three stars. While there, I found one of my great grandparents stones. I hope to be able to upload the photograh. The lady in the office was also very polite and helpful.
The family name is Adametz. I got very lucky with this stone, because I also found that a Maria Adametz was buried there. That was the first time, I had ever come across her. I don't know if she was my great grandfathers' sister, but I am assuming for the time being, that she was. I have looked at manifests and census reports yet this was the first time, I had come across her. This just show how important the inscriptions are on a stone and also the valuable inforamtion we can find on a stone.
